Caffain habits: good or bad?

If you are a tea lover, by reading the title you might be thinking it is only for those who drinks coffee… not for us… stop! (I used this first sentence to keep the tea lovers reading, did it work?) I used the title to catch attention and keep it short but actually the topic is about both type of stimulants we consume everyday.

Let’s find out what is caffain actually. I’m taking the facts from Wikipedia (ofcourse) because it is fun to know about it. So, caffain is a stimulant which… Wait a minute! What is a “stimulant”? Stimulants are some kind of drug that increases activity of the central nervous system and the body. Caffain here affects central nervous system (CNS) and increases activity and we feel energetic.

You’ll say, “But what about tea? Which stimulants are in tea?” Well, tea has a little different names which are theobromine, theophylline and xanthines (which is similar to caffeine) but their work is same.

So you know now what is present in the drink it is time to find out their effects.

Good effects:

Well I don’t know about your preference but I wish it is like mine – Good things first.

When our body digest food, it basically converts the food into energy. But in between somewhere some bad things happens, some free radicals are produced which can cause various deseases and ailments. But by consuming our favourite beverages, antioxidants are produced which fights those free radicals.

The caffeine found in both tea and coffee helps to protect the human body against the Parkinson’s disease. Studies have also revealed that caffeine not only protects the brain but also helps to identify the early signs of this brain disorder.

Diabetes is a pretty serious health condition and has become too common nowadays. While getting the blood sugar level under control is a humungous task and saddening too (which I hope you don’t have to bear), the humble cup of tea or coffee can, in fact, play a pivotal role in controlling it. Coffee is loaded with antioxidants that help to keep the blood sugar level under control, and the antioxidants present in tea may, in fact, help the body to process the sugar in the blood better.

Liver is happy, when it gets coppee… Em sorry coffee. Coffee consumption helps to keep liver diseases such as liver cancer, liver cirrhosis, and other chronic liver diseases at bay. It is also good for heart. Coffee even helps to reduce formation of gallstones in gallbladder significantly. And if you check the sugar you add in it, it helps to lose weight. But not if you mix too much sugar and cream obviously. And last but not the least antioxidants present in these stimulants helps preventing prostate and breast cancer.

The bads:

Coffee and tea increases alertness. So, excessive usage may increase anxiety level. It helps keeping away tiredness and get your work done but it can also cause insomnia as a result of excessive use obviously. Daily one or two cups is okay.

When you take it before exercise, it helps burn more calories but it can cause muscle breakdown also when used too much. And there is addiction, when you make it a habit, you can experience headache until you drink it. It can cause high blood pressure and high heart rate too. And last of all can cause frequent urination.

Conclusion:

As I see it, if you drink coffee or tea with low sugar and a limited amount, you are safe. It is just a fact based article so that you know the results and it is upto you how you want. I do drink tea too. Can’t see any need of any farther talk here. Stay safe, bye.
